Meet Grace and Imogen

Students at Melbourne Girls Grammar are bold, courageous and dynamic, ready to meet the future head on. They define their own path through the choices they make and the opportunities they embrace.

GRACE AND IMOGEN: active achievers

Grace and Imogen Perrett joined Melbourne Girls Grammar in Year 7, but their MGGS journey started a long time before that. Their mum graduated in 1993 and they’ll soon be joined by younger sister, Stella. Grace and Imogen are now in Year 11 and have taken full advantage of the opportunities afforded to them while at MGGS.

“Something I love about MGGS is the community, the school has created an environment where I can thrive both academically and socially. The sense of belonging, whether it be to the school in general, or to my House, my year level or just my friendship group, has allowed me to build a strong sense of connectedness to MGGS.

Grace and Imogen are actively engaged in School life. They are heavily involved in sport, both play for the Senior Football team (they also play for their local footy club), row in the First VIII and participate in athletics throughout the year. Imogen adds a spot in the First Netball team to that, and Grace also does swimming…busy schedules indeed!

Both Imogen and Grace are passionate about STEM, especially science, and have both elected to study VCE Chemistry. They love learning to understand how the world works and using their critical thinking skills to solve problems. They both think they’ll end up in a science field for tertiary studies and would love to help make the world a better place through scientific innovation and technological advancements.

MGGS is all about opportunity for Imogen and Grace. Not only have they had the chance to explore new sports, music and other co-curricular opportunities, they have also sampled a range of subjects throughout their Middle and Senior Years journeys. Despite her STEM-oriented VCE timetable, Imogen says she’s happy she had a chance to try things like dance, drama and art to discover more about herself and her learning styles and interests in the process.

Other opportunities they can’t stop talking about are the trips they’ve undertaken during Senior Years. They travelled to Arnhem Land in Year 9 with their year level. The culturally immersive experience, where they learnt directly from First Nations elders about their traditions and Country is something they’ll remember for a long time. In that same year, Grace was also part of the Goldolphin Exchange. This twenty-year-old exchange program between MGGS and Godolphin School in Salisbury, England, gave her the opportunity to explore England and immerse herself in a different type of school life which she relished.

In 2024, both Grace and Imogen enjoyed the experience of participating in the ‘Go Girls 100km Challenge’, which involved training for a 100km running challenge and fundraising for the Go Girls Foundation, which supports Victorian women and children at risk. At the end of Year 10, both Grace and Imogen embarked on a three-week expedition to Borneo with World Challenge. This expedition combined elements of service, travel, personal and physical challenge and cultural immersion.

Grace and Imogen’s lives are only just beginning to take shape, imagine how much more they have to achieve! Now in the midst of their VCE studies, balancing academics with sport, leadership and service, they want to make the most of their last few years at MGGS.
