Australian Science Olympiads

The Australian Science Olympiad program involves a series of National Qualifying Examinations for Biology, Chemistry and Physics run during August each year. The Australian Science Olympiad exams are designed to select the top students in each discipline to attend the Australian Science Olympiads Summer School which is a 15-day residential course held in January at the Australian National University in Canberra. This is the first step in being selected to represent Australia at the International Science Olympiads.

This year a number of students from Years 10 and 11 were invited to participate in the National Qualifying Examination and they achieved outstanding results that placed many in the top 10 per cent of the State. Melbourne Girls Grammar congratulates Christy L. for achieving High Distinction in the Biology and Chemistry exams and Alexandra R. for achieving a Credit in the Chemistry exam and a High Distinction in the Biology Exam.

Alexandra is also congratulated for being invited to participate in the Summer School in January 2017. She is a fine candidate who promises to be an outstanding participant in the Summer School. Her dedication and passion for all things science, as well as her innate ability should ensure she has a very successful experience. We wish Alexandra, Christy and all the students who participated in the exams every success with their scientific endeavours.
