Giving to MGGS

Learn more about our current initiatives and ways you can support Melbourne Girls Grammar.

Why Give?

As an independent school, we are so grateful for the generosity of our parents, alumnae, staff, students and friends of Melbourne Girls Grammar who support our vision for now and the future.

In addition to scholarships, philanthropic funds raised for the School contribute towards major developments on campus, such as the Artemis Centre.

You can make a difference to the future of Melbourne Girls Grammar through the Annual Giving Campaign, our annual appeal to all members of our community which supports capital fundraising and the establishment of new opportunities for students.

The Merton Hall Foundation

The Merton Hall Foundation was established in 1985 with the dual aims of providing capital to maintain the building program and realising the future focused vision of Melbourne Girls Grammar.

Dedicated to raising funds that support the long-term financial security and independence of Melbourne Girls Grammar, the Merton Hall Foundation assists the School in realising major projects and initiatives critical to the ongoing success of our exceptional learning experiences.

Ways to Support the School

Your support helps our continued progression as a school, ensuring we are continually recognised as an international leader in girls’ education.

Along with our innovative learning programs, giving to MGGS allows us to attract outstanding students and high-quality staff and maintain excellent facilities for our girls to enjoy each day.

Melbourne Girls Grammar offers a substantial range of scholarships that attract a diverse range of motivated and talented students.

With your help we can continue to offer these vital scholarships, and increase funds so that all students can experience the range of educational and social opportunities central to the Melbourne Girls Grammar experience.

At the donor’s discretion, in discussion with the School, we can also create unique merit and/or equity scholarships to attract distinguished students of exceptional abilities, talents and qualities and even establish individual scholarships named in memory of someone or to meet a specific interest of the donor.

Designed to raise funds for specific buildings or projects identified by the School as imperative to the success of our learning experiences.

Previously, funds secured have supported the construction of the Science Futures Centre, Creative Arts Centre, Nina Crone Library, the refurbishment of the Dining Hall and the building of the Artemis Centre.

Families of enrolled students can choose to make a small regular voluntary contribution to the Building Fund with their school fees, contributing towards our larger development projects.

Melbourne Girls Grammar will gratefully receive a range of non-monetary gifts. Past examples have included artwork, special equipment and other tangible personal property.

These are gifts that enhance a department or an existing Melbourne Girls Grammar collection.

The Nisi Dominus Society was formed to celebrate and honour those in the community who have chosen to name Melbourne Girls Grammar in their will.

Throughout the School’s history, bequests have made a significant impact to the development of the School’s built environment. The estate of the late Georgina Caldwell (OG, 1942) enabled the School to make much-needed refurbishments to Morris Hall in 2010.  Other bequests have funded a variety of scholarships, assisting generations of Melbourne Girls Grammar students.

A bequest may enable you to do more for our School than you thought possible.

Unrestricted gifts to the Endowment Fund enable the School to apply funds to areas of greatest need and to take advantage of any extraordinary opportunities.

Melbourne Girls Grammar is very fortunate to have an extensive community of Old Grammarians, families and friends who continually provide support to our school and its initiatives.

Without this support, Melbourne Girls Grammar would not have the opportunity to move forward, progress and change — shaping a unique experience for each girl’s education.

We thank you for your vision and support.
