Red Brick Appeal
Red Brick Appeal
There is something timeless about the charm of red bricks. They stand as steadfast sentinels, embodying tradition, character, and a sense of belonging. Nowhere is this more evident than in the heart of our educational institutions.
At Melbourne Girls Grammar, the red-brick façades of our historic buildings aren’t just a feature, they’re a symbol. A symbol of resilience, durability, and the enduring spirit of learning, sitting proudly atop Anderson Street Hill. Our red brick buildings define our community from the point of entry through to the iconic Anderson Street gates, into a learning environment defined by the Chapel of St Luke, Merton Hall, Phelia Grimwade House and our much-loved Gilman Jones Boarding House.
There’s a warmth to these bricks, a comforting familiarity that transcends time. To Old Grammarians, these buildings evoke memories of youthful exuberance and the bonds forged in classrooms. To educators, they symbolise dedication and the noble pursuit of knowledge. And to students, they’re a canvas upon which they paint their own stories, leaving behind a legacy for those who will follow.
Preserving this legacy requires more than just admiration; it requires support. On Thursday 15 August, we will be hosting a Giving Day called the Red Brick Appeal. Donations to the Red Brick Appeal will go towards the preservation of our iconic red brick buildings and the creation of new contemporary learning spaces on the Merton Hall campus. The Red Brick Appeal will enable us to continue our tradition of excellence and achievement for every Grammarian into the future.
All gifts to the School above $2 on this day will be tax-deductible and doubled by our generous matching donors. We ask our community to come together and give what they can towards our target of $500,000!
Stay tuned for more details on how you can contribute to the Red Brick Appeal and help shape a brighter future for our girls. Together, let’s build not just learning spaces, but opportunities for empowerment and excellence arming Grammarians for generations to come, one brick at a time.
