Over the years, the MGGS Saturday Netball club has grown from
strength to strength and this trend doesn’t seem to be shifting any time
soon!
Netball is an ever-evolving sport as is the participation and
opportunities which arise for MGGS students.
Girls in Senior School have the opportunity of not only playing in a
team but also have the opportunity of participating as either a coach of
one of our younger teams or as an umpire. It is great to see girls getting
involved in the different areas of netball and also having a bit of a run
on a Saturday morning/afternoon for their matches!
Once again, we will be participating in the Boroondara Netball
Association which has also seen some recent changes. Last year, the
structure of netball in Victoria changed which led to Boroondara applying
for a licence in the new Victorian State League and being successful. As we
move forward, this will enable a greater opportunity for girls to be
exposed to greater competition but also should they wish, to try out for
one of the representative in the association.
The competition is played out at Macleay Park, 101 Belmore Road in
Balwyn North (Melways reference 46 C4). Here they have eight outdoor
synpave courts and seating for spectators around the central courts (Court
1 and 2).
Information regarding the competition can be found at the Boroondara
Association’s website: www.bna.org.au.
We are looking forward to another great year and look forward to a
great season.
