A highly specialised team surrounds the VCE process
within MGGS. One of the special features of the School is that the student
does not feel there is any hierarchy of staff to whom she may turn. In the
first place she turns to someone with whom she feels comfortable, who will
then direct her, if necessary, to the appropriate professional colleague
according to her needs.
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), administered by the
Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), is a two-year course
designed to be taken by Year 11 and 12 students. While Units 1 and 2 are
designed for Year 11 students and Units 3 and 4 for Year 12 students there
is flexibility within the VCE so it is possible for Year 11 students to
study Units 3 and 4 in some studies and for Year 10 students to study Units
1 and 2.
To be awarded the VCE students must satisfactorily complete the
minimum of sixteen units of study which include:
|

|
three units from the English
group, with at least one unit at Unit 3 or 4 level
|
|

|
three sequences of Units 3 and 4 studies other than English
|
Students at MGGS usually complete a total of twenty-three units,
with one Unit in Year 10, six of Units 1 and 2 in Year 11, and five Units 3
and 4 in Year 12.

NB. The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) advises that
satisfactory completion of both Units 3 and 4 of an English group sequence
is required for the calculation of the student’s Equivalent National
Tertiary Entrance Rank (ENTER).
