Careers Enrichment

Learning about careers is a life-long and life wide journey. Careers enrichment is integrated across school life in preparation for students' active participation in the knowledge society. All students are encouraged to critically reflect upon their learning strengths and areas for development. The course planning/subject selection process that students undertake in preparation for their studies in Years 9 through to 12 is structured and guided.

Students are encouraged to access a diversity of resources available from the Careers Centre.

Partnering students in their post compulsory education decision making process is best facilitated when students, the school and parents engage in the conversation of possibilities and opportunities in their learning journey.

Cultural exchange

We live in a global community, we seek opportunities to explore the cultures of other parts of the world. This can occur through student exchange, and the celebration of the diverse cultures of our community. We have an established connection with school communities in Papua New Guinea, Japan and we are currently developing links with a school in China. We seek opportunities to organise trips to Europe to enhance the language development of our LOTE students in Year 10, 11 and 12. Also, on occasion we plan trips to other significant parts of the world to extend and enhance our curriculum. In 2008 a group of students and staff went to Vietnam and in 2009 we are planning a community trip to Egypt.

Special Events

Students are invited to participate in a number of special events throughout their time in the senior school. These formal occasions are held with staff and/or parents to celebrate commitment to House, Rowing, Snowsports and Sport in general. A significant part of the yearly calendar is the Year 11 and the Year 12 formal, and the various functions held in conjunction with the Parents Association.
