MGGS is a medium sized school with structures carefully planned to ensure each girl is known and appreciated as an individual.

The medium size is quite deliberate. MGGS has an established maximum capacity. Within the School, students are catered for as individuals with age appropriate structures at the ELC, Morris Hall and Merton Hall. The Head of Junior School oversees programs from ELC to Year 6. At Merton Hall the Director of Students: Middle School and Director of Students: Senior School tailor programs and experiences for the specific age group under their care.

The structure further sub-divides in Junior School classes with a classroom teacher, supported by specialists in Music, Art, Drama, Chinese and Italian. There is provision for those with particular learning needs and for very talented students.

The Middle School has House groupings, each with three Tutors. A Middle School House caters for students in Years 7, 8 and 9.

The Senior School structure provides House based groups, each with a Tutor who guides students through Years 10, 11 and 12. Students in Years 7 – 11 are co-located in House areas to provide mutual support, care, leadership and a sense of community.

The Student Executive Council and the Middle School Executive and the House system encourage student involvement in decision-making.
