Geoffrey Joachim taught at Melbourne Girls Grammar from1982 to 1985 and returned from overseas to MGGS in 1993 until his death in 2004.

Those fortunate to have been taught by him were enthused by his love of literature and his appreciation of the Classics. He brought to his beloved profession dedication and passion, and his sense of duty, obligation and high standards are with us today.  The Geoffrey Joachim Memorial Fund has been created to provide an annual prize or bursary in perpetuity for a staff member.  The award seeks to encourage a staff member to seek out new opportunities and expand their horizons, and in doing so, honour the memory of Geoffrey’s life and work.
