We have looked closely at the purpose of schooling and the needs of adolescent learners in the 21st century. In doing so we have decided to design and build a purpose built precinct located in Walsh Street on our Senior School campus for our Years 5 - 8 students, establishing a new entry point for the Middle School at Melbourne Girls Grammar. The precinct will open in 2011. Through such an innovative approach we will shape our curriculum into a contemporary and unique experience, one which will effectively transition students from junior to senior school.

Accompanying this educational vision is a purpose built new Learning Centre that will be the entry point for our wonderful emerging adolescents on the Senior School campus.

Our new Centre incorporates a vision for learning based on the concept of learning studios. In this C21st environment, space is more open and flexible and we begin with a master plan for learning rather than a plan for teaching. Essential to the concept of this building is the intention to link the Centre in practice to the specialist areas and resources of the Senior School — Library, Science Laboratories, Creative Arts, Physical Education.
