Since 1996, Melbourne Girls Grammar has maintained a strong
relationship with its sister school Sugiyama in Nagoya, Japan. The exchange programme was an initiative of past principal Mrs Christine Briggs and over the
years has enabled girls from MGGS to form long lasting, international
friendships with girls from Sugiyama. During the biannual visits to Japan, MGGS students have experienced the diversity of this beautiful country. Culturally
and historically significant places such as Kyoto, Hiroshima, Toyko and Miyajima Island have made profound impressions.

Our next visit to Japan will take place this year during the Term Three holidays from 19 September to 3
October. The trip will include 4 days in Kyoto and surrounding areas before
a home stay in Nagoya followed by a few days experiencing the bright lights
and excitement of Toyko.
So for anyone who favours Japanese cuisine, unique shopping
experiences, old-world architecture or beautiful Asian Art, not to mention
the fun of Karaoke, then this trip is for you!
To register your interest, please email or phone the trip
co-ordinators Ms Lucy Cohen or Mr Matthew Hetchler. We will be holding an
information evening in March for anyone interested in this relatively
low-cost trip.
We look forward to hearing from you!
