Melbourne Girls Grammar offers two boarding options to families of girls from Years 7 – 12; Full time Boarding and for day-girls Sessional or Casual Boarding.

Full-time Boarding

Since 1893, boarding has played a significant role in the development of MGGS. The School is proud to offer girls from different geographical, ethnic and family backgrounds the opportunity to experience community living in the MGGS Boarding Houses.

Boarding life means being thoughtful and respectful. It means living harmoniously with one another. Every effort is made to create an atmosphere of warmth, friendliness and co-operation essential for community living. This allows girls to have a sense of ownership of the Boarding House and be actively involved in the day-to-day organisation of the Houses.

It is important that every girl coming to board at MGGS is well prepared for the experience and that they have a realistic idea of what to expect.  The orientation of new boarders is a priority. It endeavours to allow boarders to arrive at the School feeling secure about their place in their own family as well as their new ‘family’ at MGGS.

Sessional or Casual Boarding

Sessional or Casual Boarding caters to the demands of parent’s hectic schedules and varying work and travel demands while giving the student the opportunity to experience boarding school life. Day students are welcome to board for any duration during the term at a cost per week. (Places subject to availability.)
