The Drama Program consists of Classroom Drama and the co-curricular
Drama Program. At Years 7 and 8 Drama is a core curriculum subject and at
Years 9 – 12 Drama is an elective the girls may choose.
In the Middle School the girls explore a range of skills including: Mime, Vocal,
Improvisation, Script and Movement. The girls experiment with a range of
genres such as Melodrama, Comedy, Musical Theatre and Theatre-In-Education.
Classroom performances allow involvement with students from Morris Hall (Junior School) and the Barbara Tolson Centre (Early Learning Centre).

In the Senior School the girls are involved in an exploration of
dramatic elements and theatrical conventions. The girls develop their
improvisation skills and take part in classroom performances of both
scripted and group devised works. The VCE classes perform ensemble pieces,
scripted plays and solo performances.
The Drama program is enhanced by our proximity to the cultural heart
of Melbourne and our students see a diverse range of theatrical
performances at various venues.
Our co-curricular program consists of several major productions each
year; these range from plays to musicals and involve students from both
Middle and Senior School. We work in association with Melbourne Grammar School on a number of productions which are performed on either campus. In 2007 we took
the senior play to Tasmania and toured the state performing at different
venues. The House Drama festival is a major House event and involves large
numbers of girls from all the year levels in the writing, rehearsing,
producing and performing of a house play.
