At Melbourne Girls Grammar we
have established an education system where all students from Years 5 to 12
require a notebook computer. The Notebook Program provides students with
the opportunity to lease a notebook computer through the School’s
technology levy.
This
program offers many benefits to the students; it allows all students to
have the same notebook computer, software and support available to them as
others in their year level. It also means that we can remove all the hidden
costs that are associated with purchasing a new notebook computer and
simplify it to one rental payment each term.
Another
benefit of the technology levy is that the school provides an efficient
turnaround for service and repairs, minimizing the amount of time any
students are without their computer and providing a loan unit during the
repair period.
Melbourne
Girls Grammar purchases approximately 300 new notebook computers each year,
which are allocated to Years 5, 7 and 10. Other year levels will keep their
existing notebook computer for up to three years. Those joining years 6, 8,
9, 11 and 12 will be allocated a refurbished notebook computer until they
reach a year level that receives a new notebook.
