At Melbourne Girls Grammar we aim to create a challenging and stimulating environment where each girl strives for personal excellence and each student’s capacities are enhanced. This will enable her to pursue a full and happy life with the confidence to make good choices about her studies, career, personal relationships and lifestyle.

Hope and optimism derive from an educational setting where students are encouraged to understand why as well as what, to become deeply involved with the contents as well as the processes of learning and to see their potential as unlimited. Students are exposed to a variety of settings – small and large groups, closely directed and loosely structured, in school and out of school activities. The program encourages students to acquire as well as create knowledge.

In addition to the academic program, MGGS offers a variety of co-curricular offerings to encourage students to discover and nurture their talents. MGGS girls also participate in a wide variety of competitions at state and national levels in both academic and co-curricular activities.

MGGS values excellence in all fields – but above all, it aims to develop good human beings – girls with a well-grounded sense of having a moral compass to guide them. We encourage students to cultivate respect and to develop empathy and compassion. MGGS girls are also encouraged to participate in projects that help them think beyond the school and home and to make a positive difference to the community at large.
