Music
Scholarships are available to:
Students
entering Year 7 in 2011
Students entering Year 9 in 2011
There is one Music Scholarship at each of the two Year Levels. The
successful recipient of the Music Scholarship will be the candidate who has
successfully auditioned for the Director of Music and achieved high
academic results in the Scholarship examination.
Application
for a Music Scholarship does not automatically guarantee qualifying for an
audition.
The Director of Music will assess all required documentation and select the
candidates that she wishes to audition.
Only
those candidates selected by the Director of Music will be required to
attend the Music Scholarship audition.
Candidates selected for audition will be contacted by telephone. If
a candidate is not contacted by the Scholarships Officer, the
candidate will not be required to audition.
Music
Scholarship – Requirements
All
candidates must sit the Academic Examination.
To be considered for audition, the following minimum AMEB Grades must have
been achieved:

Woodwind/Brass
– Grade 3
|
|

Strings
– Grade 5
|
|

|
Piano
– Grade 6
|
Please
note: meeting these requirements alone does not automatically guarantee an
audition.
The
Director of Music will prepare a shortlist of selected candidates based on
the information provided. Candidates will be contacted by telephone if they
are selected to audition.
Application

Statements
and documentation on the following are required:

Main
instrument to be auditioned (if two instruments are offered, please
identify both instruments),

Most
recent AMEB level and result,
|
|

Theory
levels reached and result,
|
|

|
Any
other previous musical experience.

Candidates
who do not provide this supporting documentation will not be considered for
an audition.
Those
candidates who are selected to audition will be expected to perform:

two
contrasting pieces (for one or two instruments), and
|
|

|
sight
reading and aural tests
|
Candidates
may perform unaccompanied. If candidates are to perform accompanied they
must arrange their own accompanist.
